Mold and the Toilet

It is not uncommon for bathroom deterioration to begin with the toilet. Deterioration may be mold in the water tank, a plumbing leak, or a broken toilet wax seal. Water leaks may begin behind the walls or under the floors and not be manifested until the toilet falls through the floor (true story!). Mold requires three things to grow – water, warm temperatures, and food. The food may be drywall, wood, dust, or other porous materials. Proper home management requires diligence. If a wall or floor feels wet to the touch or if mold appears, please contact The IEP Group and schedule an Initial Mold Investigation. Otherwise, our next blog may feature a photo of a hole-in-the-floor where your toilet should be.
